Tenure-track Faculty - Assistant Professor - Statistics/Data Science


The Department of Mathematics at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor. The Department of Mathematics offers majors in Mathematics and Data Science and a minor in Statistics.

The selected candidate is expected to have responsibilities in teaching, research and service. The teaching load is six sections (24 credits) per academic year. Applicants should expect to teach introductory and upper level courses, primarily in Statistics and Data Science, as well as mentoring/supervising students involved in collaborative research through our Statistical Collaborative Center. Applicants should also expect to be involved with the newly instituted Data Science major, advising students and participating in curriculum development.

Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to university service. The selected candidate will be responsible for advising undergraduate students and is expected to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, school, campus, community and professional organizations.

The Mathematics Department contributes to a wide array of majors and works collaboratively with other departments, including Economics, Public Health and others. Applicants should be prepared to work collaboratively to support students who are passionate about social justice and plan to use their training to lead and influence.

Required qualifications:
• Doctoral degree in statistics, applied statistics, statistics education, data science, or related field earned by August 2018 along with demonstrated evidence of a commitment to excellence in research and teaching.
• 1-2 years of teaching experience (upper level course teaching preferred).
• Experience mentoring or supervising students preferred.
• Data science experience or coursework preferred.
